Amateur Animation: Sound Style

Image
In this video I tried adding a bit of sound to "Style". I am using the "toons" sound pack form FlipaClip. I have had some experience with sounds from video editing, so this was more of a proof of concept for me.

In this attempt I tried sketching out my drawing first, and I used a stylus. I learned a few things. 1) Sketching does help, but you have to follow it! 2) It is not important to keep lines straight, as much as it is to keep them consistent. 3) Motion is good, but too much is bad, I need to copy and paste at least some elements in a frame-by-frame animation.

For this one I tried out two things. I tried using the copy and paste function and experimented with color.

I have started some simple animation using FlipaClip. I will post my journey as I learn more. For this one, I was just using my fingers and free drawing, with no clear path in mind and no guides to help me. The only instruction I had was watching the tutorial video and seeing how they do it. I am dong this on a Kindle Fire, so clearly, I'm a professional

Thoughts on Things: Muscle Memory

Recently I have been working on my typing. I tend to make a lot of errors when typing, and when I tried to address that, I realized that I do not actually type with both of my hands. I think a lot of us do this, and we only notice it once we take a step back and really see what our fingers are doing down there. In order to remedy this, and in hoping to help with my spelling consistency, I decided to start some typing lessons.  As I started these lessons I noticed something peculiar, something that I have always known in the back of my head but hadn't seen in full force until I started typing. Despite me being right hand dominate, my left fingers are a lot more controlled. I can type with all the fingers of my left hand with ease, going up and down with each individual finger whilst keeping the rest close to perfectly still. When I try the same feat with my right hand it is a battle of the wills as I have to consciously think where each finger is going and force the ones that are no...

Thought on Things: The Struggle of Having a Hobby

As the three of you that occasionally read this can see, it is hard to put anything resembling a schedule onto a hobby. And many people will the say reason for that being "Once you have a set schedule, it becomes a job." And honestly, I can see that now, I think once we make a schedule to something we start putting some pressure on ourselves to follow more guidelines, and that, above anything else, is what makes your hobby seem more like a burden. When we start to put schedules on things we start to think, "Ok, if I am going to do this every say, Tuesday and Thursday, I'd better be sure there is some reason for it." It seems odd to just start blaring out random words every other day, because despite what the jokes may imply, I do want people to read this. So you start to think, "If I am going to do this on a schedule, then I should have something that happens on each of those scheduled days, that way people have something to look forward to when they read i...
